Photographer of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine Distinguished in an International Photography Competition

A photographer representing the Imam Ali Holy Shrine has earned the highest recognition in an international competition that brought together 1,200 photographers from 59 countries.

Wisam Mutawiq, photographer of the Media Department News Center of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine, achieved an international award and an outstanding ranking in the third edition of the “GAM International Photography Competition,” organized by the Imam al-Hussain Holy Shrine in cooperation with the International Federation of Photographic Art and the Iraqi Photography Association.

 

Haider Rahim, Head of the Media Department, stated to the Shrine’s News Center:

“We are honored by the success achieved by our talented photographer, Wesam Mutawiq, who was able to secure a distinguished position in this international competition. The Imam Ali Holy Shrine has always been a source of support for creative talent. By fostering and empowering media competencies and by enabling them to serve this Holy Shrine through the documentation of million-person pilgrimages, they capture the beauty and spiritual essence of these historic moments in an exceptional manner.”

 

For his part, photographer Wesam Mutawiq expressed his deep pride and honor at this achievement, stating that the competition featured participation from 59 Arab and international countries, where nearly 1,200 photographers submitted 4,250 photographs. According to him, 790 works were accepted based on rigorous artistic standards set by the specialized jury committee, which carried out evaluations in four stages. His winning photograph, depicting the movement of pilgrims during the Arbaeen Walk, was ultimately selected as the distinguished work of the competition.
