The ceremony was organized in recognition of academic excellence, intellectual achievement, and scientific innovation. It honored university professors who attained the rank of full professor during the year 1404, as well as researchers who successfully registered scientific patents, affirming the Shrine’s commitment to valuing knowledge and scholarly contribution.
The event was attended by the Custodian of the Holy Alawi Shrine, Sayed Isa Al-Khirsan; his deputy; members of the Shrine’s Board of Directors; representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Higher Education; presidents of universities in Najaf al-Ashraf; and a distinguished gathering of academics and researchers. The ceremony reflected a profound harmony between spirituality, knowledge, and social responsibility.
In his opening address, Mustafa Mahdi Mani, Member of the Board of Directors, emphasized the central role of knowledge in the legacy of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him), stating:
“Knowledge, as embodied in the life of Amir al-Muminin (peace be upon him), was a guiding light and a source of insight for humanity. Today, it remains the cornerstone of societal progress.”
He described honoring scholars as an acknowledgment of a path built on sincerity, dedication, and sustained effort, noting that scholars and thinkers illuminate the way forward through wisdom and learning.
In a media statement, Dr. Mahir Hamid, Advisor to the Holy Alawi Shrine, explained that the ceremony recognized university professors in Najaf al-Ashraf who were promoted to professorship during the current year, in addition to researchers whose applied scientific work led to officially registered patents. He noted that this initiative aligns with the Shrine’s broader role in supporting higher education, universities, and scientific advancement in Iraq, while empowering academic elites to contribute to the nation’s future.
Haider Al-Isawi, Member of the Board of Directors, affirmed the continuity of this scholarly tradition, stating that the Holy Alawi Shrine annually honors academic elites who play an active role in the country’s intellectual and scientific development as an expression of responsibility and appreciation for efforts that contribute to building Iraq’s future.
Meanwhile, Karar Al-Mousawi, Head of Internal Relations at the Public Relations Department, noted that the ceremony was held within the official framework of The Born Inside Kaaba and included honoring more than 225 university professors, among them six academics who registered patents in 1404, representing the Universities of Kufa, Jabir ibn Hayyan, and Al-Furat Al-Awsat, in addition to university presidents and college deans from Najaf al-Ashraf.
The organization of this ceremony during the Born Inside Kaaba Week underscores the Holy Alawi Shrine’s enduring commitment to integrating knowledge, thought, and spirituality, and reflects loyalty—both intellectual and moral—to the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), where knowledge is viewed not merely as a means of progress, but as an ethical and social responsibility toward a brighter future.
